Robe DigitalSpot 5000 DTs and StageQube 324 video panels played a major visual role in the South African Guide Dog Association(SAGA)’s "Carnival in Venice" fundraising event. This was staged at the Italian styled Montecasino Ballroom, Gauteng's premier entertainment destination.
Johannesburg based MJ Event Gear was called in by Lynn Baker from Montecasino Corporate Events to supply all the necessary equipment and to assist with all the show’s technical and production aspects.
MJ Events specified 24 Robe StageQube 324s – supplied to the event by Mark Gaylard from MGG Productions and arranged in a wall - 4 Robe DigitalSpots and 8 MediaSpinners with 8 plasma screens, plus moving and generic lights, projection, LED curtains and a JBL PA system.
MJ Events’ Mike Jones comments on the StageQubes, “The wall really added to the overall evening and people were blown away with the effects it made”.
While the StageQubes set the scene, the MediaSpinners were rigged along on four diagonal trusses in the roof over the audience, rotating a series of 42 inch plasma screens displaying sponsors logos and graphics. They created plenty of fascination and intrigue!
However, for Mike Jones, the four DigitalSpot 5000 DTs were unquestionably the highlight of the event, one of which was rigged on each of the diagonal trusses.
The client supplied various sponsors’ logos which were pre-loaded into the DigitalSpot heads and Van Der Merwe was soon making them float all around the room in spectacular fashion. The fixtures were also utilised for other graphics effects.
Mike Jones’ emphasises that they were “Really proud to be involved in this event as it is giving something back for such a good cause”.
The show has received numerous compliments and tributes for the technical production and has been hailed as the best looking SAGA event to date.
Edith Venter commented post-show, “Many people have raved on about the effects and lighting, and it’s only through working with companies like MJ Event Gear that we can raise the money we do for charities in this way”.
