Ten Robe ROBIN 600 Spots have been specified and installed into the brand new 600 capacity C-Mine theatre - at the Cultural Centrum in Genk, Belgium.
C-Mine is part of the redeveloped Winterslag mine site, an important piece of industrial heritage that has been transformed into a busy visitor attraction and cultural centre. The theatre is utilised for a whole range of live performances and cultural events including drama, music, dance, comedy, etc.
The venue's lighting was specified by Chris Weyens, a senior technician from Genk's main theatre, and supplied by Robe's Benelux distributor, Controllux, following a shoot out against competitor products, in which Robe was a clear winner!
Wienand van Lil is the technical director of both theatres, and this is their first experience with moving lights as part of their in-house installation, previously having used them only as a rental item. Apart from seeing the fixtures in action first hand which convinced the team that this was THE moving light brand for them, Robe was also highly recommended by other professionals with whom they had been talking.
The ROBIN 600 Spots are installed above the main stage, and can be moved anywhere around the theatre and auditorium.
They are extremely pleased with their purchase. C-Mine's in house technicians and operators love them, and they have also had lots of positive feedback from visiting lighting designers.
Weyens comments that as a busy receiving theatre, having the ROBIN 600 Spots boosts the venue's production values and makes a huge difference to the creative facilities on offer and with it, people’s perceptions about their facilities and standards of excellence.
This is the latest in a string of fixed installations for which Robe products have been supplied by Controllux. Others include Handelsbeurs and Centrale in Gent – both of which are multi purpose venues, with ROBIN 600 Spots and Washes and ROBIN 300 Plasma Spots as part of their house rigs.
